The next Urban Counties
Education and Policy Conference will be held on December 7-9, 2011 at the Hyatt
Lost Pines Hotel in Lost Pines, TX.
Lost Pines 2011 will be an opportunity for
urban county officials to gather in a relaxed setting for in-depth discussions
of the major issues and challenges facing urban counties. It will feature a mix
of top-level state and national speakers and educational programming that is
tailored for the interests of county officials from urban areas. The conference
will set the tone for Urban County policy for the next regular session of the
Legislature and may result in policy formulation on the spot – or provide
direction for the development of future policy positions.

Lost
Pines 2011 will feature a rich mix of top-level state and local speakers and
programming that is tailored for the interests of urban county officials.
Although the roster of speakers is still being finalized, we expect to have over
eleven hours of continuing education credit for commissioners who attend the
entire conference.

elections, information technology, and legislative staff – will all benefit

Members of the Texas
Conference of Urban Counties may register for
Lost Pines 2011 by calling the
Urban Counties offices at (512) 476-6174. A confirmation of registration will be
sent to your office with an invoice for registration fees.
Registration fees for
Lost Pines 2011 include the following:

Wednesday evening
reception, dinner and keynote speaker;

Thursday continental
breakfast, luncheon and evening reception with hors d’oeuvres; and

Friday continental
breakfast.

Room
Reservations
Conference participants will
need to make their own hotel reservations. A special conference rate of $125 per
night has been negotiated for the conference. You may make your room
reservations by calling the hotel directly -

Conference of Urban Counties room block to get the special conference rate
of $125 per night.
Room Rate- $125 per night, plus
tax
Room
reservations must be made by November 23, 2011 in order to receive the reduced
rate for the conference. Room space is limited, so make your reservations as
soon as possible to ensure your participation at Lost Pines 2011.

miles/30 minutes):
Exit
airport, follow Hwy 71 East for approx
13 miles. Entrance to resort is
immediate next left AFTER traffic light
at Pope Bend Rd. Turn left onto main
drive and follow three mile drive to the
lobby entrance.
From Bastrop, Texas
Take
Hwy 71 west for approx 9 miles. Main
entrance to resort is immediate next
right after McKinney Roughs Nature
Park. Turn right onto main drive and
follow three mile drive to lobby
entrance.
From Houston and Points East
From
the 610 Loop, take 290 west, 110 miles,
passing through Brenham/Giddings to 21W
(just past Paige). Turn left at 21W. Go
approx 13 miles to Hwy 95 in Bastrop.
Turn left at Hwy 95, .4 miles to Hwy 71.
Turn right at Hwy 71 and travel 10.5
miles. Main entrance to resort is
immediate next right after McKinney
Roughs Nature Park. Turn right onto main
drive and follow three mile drive to
lobby entrance.
From Dallas / Fort Worth and Points North
Travel east on I-35 approx 60 miles.
Merge onto I-35 South and follow
approximately 103 miles to the Texas 130
Toll Road. Travel S/E on Texas 130
approx 37 miles to the Hwy 71 exit.
Travel east on Hwy 71 approx 10.5 miles.
Main entrance to resort is immediate
next left after traffic light at Pope
Bend Rd. Turn left onto main drive and
follow three mile drive to the lobby
entrance.
From San Antonio, San Marcos and Points
South
Follow I-35 North to Austin. Exit Ben
White/Hwy 71 East. Stay on Hwy 71. The
resort is approx 13 miles past the
Austin-Bergstrom Airport. Main entrance
to resort is immediate next left after
traffic light at Pope Bend Rd. Turn
left onto main drive and follow three
mile drive to the lobby entrance.
From Downtown Austin (approx 20 miles/30
minutes):
Take
5th street east from downtown to I-35
South to Hwy 71 East. Stay on Hwy 71
East. Once past the Austin-Bergstrom
Airport, the resort is approx 13 miles.

Golf -
(Wednesday, December 7, 2011)
The biennial golf championship will be held at
Wolfdancer Golf Club, which was recently named as one of the “Top 100 Resort
Courses” in 2009. Tee-times will start at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 7,
2011. Please note that spaces are extremely limited, so sign up early. The
tournament organizers will assemble teams according to player handicaps. Green
fees are included in your conference registration.
