General Counsel

The Texas Conference of Urban Counties seeks qualified candidates for an immediate opening in the position of General Counsel. The Texas Conference of Urban Counties is an Austin-based trade association of Texas county governments from the urban areas of the state. The Urban Counties provides advocacy services on behalf of member counties, as well as education services and some direct member services such as aggregated energy procurement and a growing program of collaborative software procurement and development. The General Counsel position serves as the lawyer for the Urban Counties and for several affiliated corporate entities. This is a full time position with compensation commensurate with experience.

Program Manager of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties

The Texas Conference of Urban Counties seeks qualified candidates for an immediate opening for a Program Manager. Experience with the Texas Legislature is preferred. Program Managers of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties are responsible for working with the Executive Director and staff to provide consultation and recommendations to clients regarding strategic planning and policy. They are also responsible for identifying various external and internal factors that could impact the functioning of county governments, performing necessary research, and developing strategic plans to address those impacts by interacting and coordinating with various county staff, legislators, state agencies and other entities. In addition, the Program Manager will develop timely and informative educational programs for the membership, as well as help to recruit new members.

Intern/Clerk

The clerk provides administrative support to the Business Manager and Program Managers. Duties include general clerical and project based work. The clerk must project a professional image both over the phone and in-person at all times.
