WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER  7 - TRAINING DAY 

  • 12:00 - 1:00 CIHCP Eligibility and Training, Anita Dunlap

    The session is a basic overview of the indigent health care program for new case workers or for the case workers who need a refresher course of the indigent health care program.  Topics to be addressed will include the background of the program; overview of the statute and rules; the differences in responsibilities for counties, hospital districts, and public hospitals; the four eligibility criteria; case processing; and forms. 

  • 1:15 - 2:30 Bill Payment, Moderator Yolanda Morales, Panel Discussion This informative session will cover program authority, types of programs, claim checklists, payment standards, forms (CMS 1500  or UB-04) services covered- basic and optional, claim coding, and innovative prescription programs in Burnet County.  Panel members are Kristi Powell, Bastrop County; Sherry Moore, McClellan County; and Linda Scaman, Falls County.

  • 2:45 - 4:00 Advanced Eligibility, Moderator Rebecca Currington, Panel Discussion

    The advanced eligibility session will cover household, income, and resource scenarios that are not "routine". Participants will be divided in to groups of their respective entities - county, district hospital, or public hospital - to discuss the cases and determine eligibility. Facilitators are David Hernandez, MCHD; and Nancy Cadena, Webb County IHC.

  • 4:15-5:30 Intensive Bill Payment, Moderator Dianne Watts, Panel Discussion

    This advanced bill payment session features a three point panel to address claims development from the provider aspect, interpreting the invoice from a utilization standpoint, and processing the invoice from a local program perspective.  The local program perspective will also touch on the Medicaid reimbursement process from and accounts receivable perspective. Panel members are Brandi Chapman-Simons, UTMB; Gianna Luper, UTMB; Crystal Wilkinson, TMF Health Quality Institute; and Delores Williams, Bell/Mills County IHC.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 8- ADVANCED INTENSIVES: WORK HARD AND LEARN, THEN GO OUT TO PLAY

 

  • 7:30 - 8:30 Attitude Tune Up, Carol Gooch

Review of the three minute attitude survey that the participants took last year. Those that did not get to do the survey will have the chance to fill one out at the conference. Your attitude toward the customer, your co-worker and even your family is an important part of who you are on the job and at home. You will learn why you approach things the way you do and why you get stressed.

        An informative presentation on Medicaid eligibility; TIERS vs. SAVERR; and when to call 211/local office.

        Learn about eligibility factors and how to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. Find out the facts and
        dispel the myths so that you can better serve your clients.

  • 12:15 - 1:15 There is No "I" in Team, Carol Gooch

    After learning your attitude pattern from the three minute survey, you will be aware of your strengths and your challenges. You will learn how to communicate this awareness to the TEAM. This will enable you to work better together as a TEAM, thus being successful both personally and professionally.

  • 1:30 - 2:45 Public Assistance Programs
    • Long Term Services, Valerie Houston, Texas Dept. of Aging and Disability Services

        This session will provide an overview and description about FQHCs, as well as the current numbers and locations in Texas.
        The Texas FQHC Incubator Grant Program and opportunities for new and expanded FQHCs will also be discussed. The
        presenter is from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Primary Care Office and will also explain the role of
        the TPCO.

 

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9 – BUILDING BETTER NETWORKS

  • 8:15 - 9:00 Using Data Effectively, Shari Holland, Morningside Research and Consulting, Inc.

  • 9:00 - 11:00 Learning from One Another

    This final session of the conference is aimed at the importance of using good data for effective service delivery across the state, and at networking and capacity building within the various regions throughout the state.
